Australian applied anthropologist Ian S. McIntosh PhD is an adjunct professor in the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, and the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) School of Liberal Arts. He is also the director of international partnerships at IUPUI, and the associate director of the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis. While land and sea claims on behalf of Aboriginal Australian traditional owners have been central to McIntosh’s career, over the past ten years his research has also focused on pilgrimage and religious tourism. He is the founder and director of the Sacred Journeys Project, and a co-founder of the heritage group Past Masters International (www.pastmasters.net). In 2014, he created the Indianapolis Spiritual Trail.
